    Abstract
Colloidal nanoparticle could be used for recognition location of tumors and cancer tissue. A simulation of molecular dynamic for colloidal silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) based on density functional theory (DFT) potential parametrization with different sizes in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate [EMim][PF6] ionic liquid was performed. Then, using Green Kubo formalism, diffusion coefficient for Ag NPs in IL and in the gas phase was calculated. We also calculated diffusion coefficients of anions and cations for pure IL and IL in the presence of different sizes of Ag NPs at different temperatures. The findings showed that the diffusion coefficient of anions and cations increases in...

    Abstract
Laser ablation of titanium target in distilled water for synthesis of colloidal nanoparticles is studied both experimentally and theoretically. The effects of laser parameters such as wavelength, pulse energy, fluence and shot numbers on the ablation rate and size properties of colloidal nanoparticles are investigated. The experimental approach addresses the interesting issue for finding the optimal main experimental parameters of laser ablation. The theoretical thermal model of nanosecond pulsed laser ablation is developed to visualize the evolution of temperature distributions and ablation depth. The simulation result of ablation depth has been compared with the experimental result...

    Abstract
Nanofluids - dispersions of nanometer-sized particles in a liquid medium - have been proposed for a wide variety of thermal management applications. It is known that a solid-like nanolayer of liquid of typical thicknesses of 0.5-1 nm surrounding the colloidal nanoparticles can act as a thermal bridge between the nanoparticle and the bulk liquid. Yet, its effect on the nanofluid viscosity has not been elucidated so far. In this article, we compute the local viscosity of the nanolayer using equilibrium molecular dynamics based on the Green-Kubo formula. We first assess the validity of the method to predict the viscosity locally. We apply this methodology to the calculation of the local...

    Abstract
The properties of colloidal nanoparticles are the key parameters in the fabrication of inexpensive solar cells based on the solution methods. In this study, Different nanostructures of CuInS2 (CIS) were successfully synthesized by a heating-up facile polyol-based method in which, polyols including diethylene glycol (DEG), ethylene glycol (EG), and glycerol (Gly) were chosen as both the solvent and the reductant. It is found that not only the indium precursor type but also the polyol solvent are greatly effective on the size, morphology and crystal phase of this sulfide ternary composition. Briefly, the heating-up synthesis using In(acac)3 in DEG and Gly media, created nano-sized particles...

    Abstract
Tungsten oxide nanoparticles were fabricated by a pulsed laser ablation method in deionized water using the first harmonic of a Nd:YAG laser (λ = 1064 nm) at three different laser pulse energies (E1 = 160, E2 = 370 and E3 = 500 mJ/pulse), respectively. The aim is to investigate the effect of laser pulse energy on the size distribution and gasochromic property of colloidal nanoparticles. The products were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The results indicated that WO 3 nanoparticles were formed. After ablation, a 0.2 g/l PdCl 2 solution was added to activate the solution against...

    Elsevier  2015
    Abstract
In this study, colloidal tungsten oxide nanoparticles were fabricated by pulsed laser ablation of tungsten target using the first harmonic of a Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm) in deionized water. After ablation, a 0.33 g/lit HAuCl4 aqueous solution was added into as-prepared colloidal nanoparticles. In this process, Au3+ ions were reduced to decorate gold metallic state (Au0) onto colloidal tungsten oxide nanoparticles surface. The morphology and chemical composition of the synthesized nanoparticles were studied by AFM, XRD, TEM and XPS techniques. UV-Vis analysis reveals a distinct absorption peak at ∼530 nm. This peak can be attributed to the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of Au and confirms...

Environmentally responsive surface-modified silica nanoparticles for enhanced oil recovery

    , Article Journal of Nanoparticle Research ; Volume 18, Issue 9 , 2016 ; 13880764 (ISSN) Behzadi, A ; Mohammadi, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Environmentally responsive surface-modified nanoparticles are colloidal nanoparticles coated with, at least, two physicochemically distinct surface groups. Recent advances in the synthesis and production of nanoparticles have enabled the production of environmentally responsive surface-modified nanoparticles with both hydrophilic and hydrophobic surface groups. These nanoparticles act like colloidal surfactants. In this paper, environmentally responsive surface-modified silica nanoparticles are synthesized and used for enhancement of oil recovery. For this purpose, silica nanoparticles are coated with polyethylene glycol chains as hydrophilic agent and propyl chains as hydrophobic agent at...

Optical emission spectroscopy was used to investigate the plasma properties during the synthesis and formation mechanism of nanoparticles. Nanoparticles with different size and shape were fabricated only by adjusting discharge current during synthesis without introducing any chemical...

    Abstract
The present article aimed to examine the pore-scale examination of a fluid capability to block pores and fractures deduced by return permeability and the blocking ability of a novel lightweight Colloidal Gas Aphron Nano-Fluid (CGANF) in heterogeneous fractured/un-fractured porous medium. Silica (S) and fumed silica (FS) nanoparticles, Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) anionic surfactant, and Xanthan Gum (XG) bio-polymer were employed for following up CGANF bubbles' movements in incongruous micro-models’ inclusive crack. The transparent nature of the glass micro-model provides an intuition into the lenticular behavior of CGANF bubbles in the heterogeneous porous media. Differential pressure...

Optical absorption spectroscopy of as prepared samples at 15 A arc current in HAuCl4 solution shows a surface plasmon resonance around 550 nm. It was found that sodium citrate acts as a stabilizer and surface capping agent of the colloidal...

    Abstract
We present a new semi-solid state procedure for efficient joining of dissimilar materials. The process called fed friction stir processing (FFSP) and works based on in-situ injection of colloidal nanoparticles in the welding line during processing. To present the efficiency of the process, friction stir welding of AA6062 aluminum alloy and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) through injection of alumina nanoparticles is presented. Microstructural features and mechanical characteristics of the weldments are elaborated. It is shown that in-situ feeding of the alumina nanoparticles during FFSP changes the thermo-mechanical regimes of the bonding zone and decreases the thickness of interaction...

Biomimetic proteoglycan nanoparticles for growth factor immobilization and delivery

    , Article Biomaterials Science ; Volume 8, Issue 4 , 2020 , Pages 1127-1136 Zandi, N ; Mostafavi, E ; Shokrgozar, M. A ; Tamjid, E ; Webster, T. J ; Annabi, N ; Simchi, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The delivery of growth factors is often challenging due to their short half-life, low stability, and rapid deactivation. In native tissues, the sulfated residual of glycosaminoglycan (GAG) polymer chains of proteoglycans immobilizes growth factors through the proteoglycans'/proteins' complexation with nanoscale organization. These biological assemblies can influence growth factor-cell surface receptor interactions, cell differentiation, cell-cell signaling, and mechanical properties of the tissues. Here, we introduce a facile procedure to prepare novel biomimetic proteoglycan nanocarriers, based on naturally derived polymers, for the immobilization and controlled release of growth factors....
