New S-norm and T-norm Operators for ALM

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kiaei Khoshroudbari, Ali Akbar (Author) ; Bagheri Shouraki, Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Active Learning Method (ALM) is a soft computing methodology which has been used for modeling and control. Unlike the good results of ALM’s ability, there is not any analytic expression to prove its power, because ALM’s main operators don’t satisfy fuzzy S-norm & T-norm properties. This problem considered from three viewpoints: Mathematics, Geometry and fuzzy sets. In this paper, we try to introduce two new operators based on morphology to satisfy three conditions: at first, they must be fuzzy S-norm and T-norm to confirm the committal of fuzzy set theory. Secondly, they must satisfy Demorgans law, because they are complement of each other. And finally, they resemble the main operators of...

Non-fragile tuning of fractional-order PD controllers for IPD-modelled processes

    , Article IFAC Proceedings Volumes (IFAC-PapersOnline) ; 2013 , Pages 361-366 ; 14746670 (ISSN) ; 9783902823274 (ISBN) Bahavarnia, M ; Tavazoei, M. S ; Mesbahi, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This paper deals with introducing non-fragile algebraic tuning rules for fractional-order PD controllers where they are used in controlling processes modeled in Integral Plus Delay (IPD) forms. These tuning rules are obtained based on a recently introduced approach, named as the centroid approach, which results in non-fragile tuning methods. Based on this approach, the centroids of two-dimensional admissible regions or the center of gravity of three-dimensional admissible regions in controller parameter space give non-fragile options for choosing controller parameters. © 2013 IFAC

A new method for design of fixed wing micro air vehicle

    , Article Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part G: Journal of Aerospace Engineering ; Volume 229, Issue 5 , April , 2015 , Pages 837-850 ; 09544100 (ISSN) Hassanalian, M ; Khaki, H ; Khosravi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    SAGE Publications Ltd  2015
    Abstract
This study attempts to present a new and comprehensive cycle for the design of fixed wing micro air vehicles. The idea is to propose a complete cycle containing all micro air vehicles design subjects such as aerodynamics, stability, structure, and navigation. The main aim of the cycle is to decrease the designing time for an optimum design. In this method, the sizing process is started simultaneously, which involves the following cases: specification of mission and aviation plan; determination of planform and aspect ratio; constraint analysis; estimation of plane weight. Completion of these four phases results in the specification of the geometry and dimensions of the wing in an optimum...

Investigating optimum procedures needed to maintain a model satellite's CG stable about design point, under subsystem configuration changes

    , Article ASME 2010 10th Biennial Conference on Engineering Systems Design and Analysis, ESDA2010, 12 July 2010 through 14 July 2010, Istanbul ; Volume 4 , 2010 , Pages 585-588 ; 9780791849187 (ISBN) Dastoom Laatleyli, H ; Abedian, A ; Teimouri, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2010
    Abstract
During design, microsatellites are subject to different changes like the changes in weight, location and dimension of parts and elements of subsystems and the payload. These changes should be accumulated by the structure subsystem in a way that some key structural parameters like the center of gravity (CG) and inertia moments remain unchanged. This subject is also important regarding the design of a modular structure of a satellite. In the present study it is tried to accommodate any changes in weight and location of any part(s) and element(s) of a microsatellite by optimum (minimum) rearrangement of other parts on their plane of rest in order to keep the CG and inertia moments unchanged....

In-flight estimation of time-varying aircraft center of gravity position based on kinematics approach

    , Article Journal of Aircraft ; Volume 55, Issue 5 , 2018 , Pages 2037-2049 ; 00218669 (ISSN) Dehghan Manshadi, A ; Saghafi, F ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In-flight aircraft center of gravity (COG) position estimation is investigated in this study based on the kinematics approach. The Quad-M basics of system identification requirements are carefully investigated for time-invariant and time-varying COG estimation during airdrop maneuver as a case study that contains both conditions. Modeling and simulation of airdrop maneuver are employed to prepare the required maneuver and measurement data for this investigation. The relative-acceleration equation, as a model structure, and parameter modeling of time-varying COG location and acceleration are introduced into the system identification and parameter estimation framework. The Kalman filter method...

A unified computational method for simulating dynamic behavior of planing vessels

    , Article China Ocean Engineering ; Volume 23, Issue 3 , 2009 , Pages 517-528 ; 08905487 (ISSN) Seif, M. S ; Jahanbakhsh, E ; Panahi, R ; Karimi, M. H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
High speed planing hulls have complex hydrodynamic behaviors. The trim angle and drafts are very sensitive to speed and location of the center of gravity. Therefore, motion simulation for such vessels needs a strong coupling between rigid body motions and hydrodynamic analysis. In addition, free surface should be predicted with good accuracy for each time step. In this paper, velocity and pressure fields are coupled by use of the fractional step method. On the basis of integration of the two-phase viscous flow induced stresses over the hull, acting loads (forces and moments) are calculated. With the strategy of boundary-fitted body-attached mesh and calculation of 6-DoF motions in each time...

Novel adaptive Kalman filtering and fuzzy track fusion approach for real time applications

    , Article 2008 3rd IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications, ICIEA 2008, Singapore, 3 June 2008 through 5 June 2008 ; 2008 , Pages 120-125 ; 9781424417186 (ISBN) Dehghani Tafti, A ; Sadati, N ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
The track fusion combines individual tracks formed by different sensors. Tracks are usually obtained by Kalman Filter (KF), since it is suitable for real-time application. The KF is an optimal linear estimator when the measurement noise has a Gaussian distribution with known covariance. However, in practice, some of the sensors do not have these properties, and the traditional KF is not an optimal estimator. In this paper, a novel adaptive Kalman filter (NAKF) is proposed. In this approach, the measurement noise covariance is adjusted by using an introduced simple mathematical function of one variable, called the degree of matching (DoM), where it is defined on the basis of covariance...
