    Abstract
The emergence of nanoscience and nanotechnology has opened up new horizons to researchers. In this regard, carbon nanomaterials are considered as the cornerstone of numerous investigations. Among various carbon nanostructures, “Carbon nanoparticles (CNPs)” have attracted a great deal of attention during the past few years due to their unique properties such as high surface area, non-toxicity, biocompatibility as well as simple and low-cost synthetic procedures via environmentally friendly routes. Thanks to these properties along with their interesting optical behavior, CNPs have found diverse applications in the fields of bioimaging, nanomedicine, photo/electro-catalysis, and bio/chemical...

Zinc-stearate-layered hydroxide nanohybrid material as a precursor to produce carbon nanoparticles

    , Article Journal of Alloys and Compounds ; Volume 509, Issue 5 , February , 2011 , Pages 2441-2444 ; 09258388 (ISSN) Ghotbi, M. Y ; Bagheri, N ; Sadrnezhaad, S.K ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
Zinc-stearate-layered hydroxide nanohybrid was prepared using stearate anion as an organic guest, and zinc layered hydroxide nitrate, as a layered inorganic host by the ion-exchange method. Powder X-ray diffraction patterns and Fourier transform infrared results indicated that the stearate anion was actually intercalated into the interlayer of zinc layered hydroxide nitrate and confirmed the formation of the host-guest nanohybrid material. Also, surface properties data showed that the intercalation process has changed the porosity for the as-prepared nanohybrid material in comparison with that of the parent material, zinc hydroxide nitrate. The nanohybrid material was heat-treated at 600 °C...

    Abstract
In the past few years, organic–inorganic metal halide ABX3 perovskites (A = Rb, Cs, methylammonium, formamidinium (FA); B = Pb, Sn; X = Cl, Br, I) have rapidly emerged as promising materials for photovoltaic applications. Tuning the film morphology by various deposition techniques and additives is crucial to achieve solar cells with high performance and long-term stability. In this work, carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) containing functional groups are added to the perovskite precursor solution for fabrication of fluorine-doped tin oxide/TiO2/perovskite/spiro-OMeTAD/gold devices. With the addition of CNPs, the perovskite films are thermally more stable, contain larger grains, and become more...

Electrochemical study of Azathioprine at thin carbon nanoparticle composite film electrode

    , Article Electrochemistry Communications ; Volume 11, Issue 7 , 2009 , Pages 1425-1428 ; 13882481 (ISSN) Shahrokhian, S ; Ghalkhani, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
Thin carbon nanoparticle/Nafion film (CNP/N), as a novel electrode material, is formed on the surface of the glassy carbon electrode in a simple solvent evaporation process. The electrochemical behavior of Azathioprine (Aza) at the CNP/N-modified electrode is investigated in detail by the means of cyclic voltammetry. During the electrochemical reduction of Aza, an irreversible cathodic peak is appeared. Cyclic voltammetric studies indicated that the reduction process has an irreversible and adsorption-like behavior. The observed reduction peak is attributed to a four-electron process referring to the reduction of nitro group to the corresponding hydroxylamine. The prepared electrode showed...

    Abstract
Reinforcement of styrene-butadiene-rubber (SBR) was investigated using two different carbon blacks (CBs) with similar particle sizes, including highly structured CB and conventional CB, as well as multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) prepared by mechanical mixing. The attempts were made to examine reinforcing mechanism of these two different classes of carbon nanoparticles. Scanning electron microscopy and electrical conductivity measurement were used to investigate morphology. Tensile, cyclic tensile and stress relaxation analyses were performed. A modified Halpin-Tsai model based on the concept of an equivalent composite particle, consisting of rubber bound, occluded rubber and...
