    Abstract
    Synthesis and characterization of a new series of low molecular weight (MW = 500–3000) OH-terminated linear aliphatic unsaturated polyesters based on cis-2-butene-1,4-diol and oxalic to sebacic acid were investigated. Direct polycondensation and transesterification methods were used for the syntheses. The latter was recognized to be the preferable method due to its lower reaction temperature and time, lower diol/diacid ratio, absence of decarboxylation, and formation of a product with low polydispersity (Mw/Mn = 1.3–2.7).     Abstract
    The deactivation of solid acid catalysts in liquid phase alkylation of isobutane with 2-butene was investigated. Since under liquid phase conditions the alkylation reaction is severely diffusion limited, effects of diffusion on the rate of reaction and deactivation pathways were considered. In the present work, an attempt has been made to implement more appropriate assumptions in order to properly model catalyst deactivation in a mixed reactor. Accordingly, spatial variation of diffusivity in the pores of the catalyst was considered as a function of time on stream.     Exploration of the ejector refrigeration cycle (ERC) in the combination with well-known power cycles to produce cooling output as well as power output is highlighted in recent decades. Since organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is practically usable than other power cycles, a combination of the ORC/ERC in a novel form is presented. Power and refrigeration sub-cycles are combined by a common condenser in separate loops to form dual-loop power/refrigeration cycle. The exhaust of the turbine is mixed with the outlet flow of the ejector, and then the mixed flow is fed into the condenser.     Abstract
    The alcoholic suspensions of titania nano-particles were prepared using the methanol, ethanol, isopropanol and butanol as the solvents as well as triethanolamine (TEA) as an dispersant. The colloidal stability of suspensions, both in the absence as well as presence of TEA, was studied by measuring the zeta potential, sedimentation, pH and electrical conductivity of suspensions, dispersant adsorption and particles size distribution. Results showed that in the absence of TEA, the stability of the suspensions increases with the molecular size of alcohol (from methanol to butanol), while the zeta potential decreases.
