    Abstract
Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy and subsequent acoustic response during microplasma formation are employed to identify cancerous human breast tissues. The characteristic optical emissions identify Ca, Na, and Mg rich species in cancerous tissues compared to those of healthy ones. Furthermore, we show that the characteristic parameters of the microplasma, generated on the unhealthy tissues, are elevated. We report higher decibel audio signals emanating from laser induced microplasma and a subsequent audio blueshift for malignant tissues. The higher abundance of trace elements in cancerous tissues as well as higher plasma temperature and electron density in laser induced microplasma...

    Abstract
Background: One of the most widely used evaluation methods in miRNA experiments is qRT-PCR. However, selecting suitable internal controls (IC) is crucial for qRT-PCR experiments. Currently, there is no consensus on the ICs for miRNA qRT-PCR experiments in breast cancer. To this end, we tried to identify the most stable (the least expression alteration) and promising miRNAs in normal and tumor breast tissues by employing TCGA miRNA-Seq data and then experimentally validated them on fresh clinical samples. Methods: A multi-component scoring system was used which takes into account multiple expression stability criteria as well as correlation with clinical characteristics. Furthermore, we...

    Abstract
Purpose: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is characterized by high mortality rate, and its clinical management is difficult and complex. Therefore, there is a need for extensive efforts aimed at accelerating the discovery of novel therapies for TNBC. CYP4Z1 has been implicated in the development of breast cancer. The current study aimed at characterizing the expression of CYP4Z1 on TNBC. Materials and Methods: Using immunohistochemistry, CYP4Z1 expression was evaluated on 122 TNBC samples, four samples of breast cancers expressing ER, PR, and HER-2, and four samples of normal breast tissues. The association between the enzyme and various histopathological features and survival of...

    Abstract
Growth arrest-specific gene 6 (GAS6) is a growth factor-like cytokine whose function is related with vitamin K. This protein interacts with receptor tyrosine kinase proteins such as Tyro3, Axl, and TAM Receptor family, therefore affecting the tumorigenic processes via different mechanisms. GAS6-antisense 1 (GAS6-AS1) is a long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) that is transcribed from a genomic regions nearby GAS6. This lncRNA is also implicated in the pathobiology of cancer. We intended to judge the role of GAS6 and GAS6-AS1 in the pathogenesis of breast cancer through appraisal of their expression levels in breast cancer tissues and their paired neighboring non-cancerous samples. Expression of...

    Abstract
miR-29b2 and miR-29c play a suppressive role in breast cancer progression. C1orf132 (also named MIR29B2CHG) is the host gene for generating both microRNAs. However, the region also expresses longer transcripts with unknown functions. We employed bioinformatics and experimental approaches to decipher C1orf132 expression and function in breast cancer tissues. We also used the CRISPR/Cas9 technique to excise a predicted C1orf132 distal promoter and followed the behavior of the edited cells by real-time PCR, flow cytometry, migration assay, and RNA-seq techniques. We observed that C1orf132 long transcript is significantly downregulated in triple-negative breast cancer. We also identified a...
