    Use of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement in HMA1 is beneficial by reduction of initial costs. But the higher stiffness of aged binder may lead to workability issues in the field, therefore use of large percentages of RAP2 impacts the HMA properties. Utilizing Sasobit is a solution to use more RAP at a relatively lower temperature in HMA mixes.     Aged asphalt binder in reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) or recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) blends only partially with the virgin binder. To better understand this state of blending, the asphalt mixtures in this study were designed, mixed, and compacted using different RAP and RAS contents. The asphalt binders were extracted and recovered from RAP and RAS and then blended with different proportions of a virgin binder. The master curves for the asphalt mixtures and asphalt binder blends were then constructed from the measured data.     Abstract
    In this research, bitumen from seven Iranian bitumen production plants were tested and characterized according to the Superpave performance grading (PG) system. The study compared the results of this classification with the 13 performance grade binders required for specific climatic zones in Iran. A set of modifiers, as well as laboratory air blowing, were used to generate the required PG binders. The modifiers used were crumb rubber, gilsonite, polyphosphoric acid, and styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS). It was found that the variety of available binders is not adequate to fully cover the required PGs. © 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved

    One of the methods newly introduced in pavement technology to address environmental concerns and reduce total gas emission is warm mix asphalt (WMA) technology. In this study, polyethylene wax is used to produce WMA mixtures. Although this technology has several positive features, moisture and rutting resistance of WMA mixtures are always questionable. To evaluate moisture and rutting resistance of polyethylene-modified mixtures, indirect tensile strength and dynamic creep tests were used, respectively. Results indicated that polyethylene has positive effect at low compaction temperature on moisture resistance, and also has negative effect on rutting resistance

    This study examined the aging of neat and modified binders at intermediate temperatures. The neat binder was modified using two crumb rubber (CR) and styrene–butadiene–styrene (SBS) contents. The linear and non-linear rheological test results and parameters exhibited different aging susceptibilities for each binder.
