    , Article International Journal of Refrigeration ; Volume 35, Issue 5 , 2012 , Pages 1384-1392 ; 01407007 (ISSN) Ghaebi, H ; Karimkashi, S ; Saidi, M. H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Total site integration offers energy conservation opportunities across different individual processes. It also helps for design as well as optimization of the central utility system. It gives massive energy-saving opportunities. The large industrial CHP sites generate heat and power simultaneously. These sites have different steam levels at different pressures which are used for power generation via steam turbines and also directly for satisfying process heat demand. There are many sites requiring cooling demand in hot seasons. In this article, integration of a LiBr/water absorption chiller in a CHP site has been investigated until its cooling demand is satisfied. Low pressure steam at 3 bar...

Heat Recovery from Turbocompressor Exhaust Gas

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Farshidfard, Behzad (Author) ; Farhadi, Fathollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Compressor stations with gas turbine drive have become common in transport of natural gas. However, the thermal efficiency of the gas turbines used in these stations is low. One reason for this is that 70% of the heat of combustion of the fuel gas used by the gas turbine is lost with its exhaust gases. Hence, heat recovery from gas turbine exhaust gas would increase the cycle efficiency by decreasing the fuel gas consumed. On the other hand, gas turbine efficiency highly depends on the climatic conditions of operation. Among several well known methods of performance improvement, the use of an absorption chiller for inlet air cooling has been studied from both process and economic points of...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadi Manesh, Mehdi (Author) ; Behshad Shafiee, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Reducing fossil fuels and increasing urban air pollution, has made the automotive industry to reduce the fuel consumption of their engines by various approaches. Removing the compressor of air conditioning system by replacing the absorption chiller instead of inverse rankin cycle is a shortcut to reduce the fuel consumption which at the same time reduces costs of using air conditioning system for occupants. Design of a 3 kW lithium bromide-water absorbent chiller has verified based on environmental conditions and car space limitations and using the combustion products as the heat source of system. K4M engine of L90 sedan Car as an internal combustion engine sample’s exhaust manifold has been...

    Abstract
Velocity distributions in (r,θ) directions are evaluated by solving simultaneous simplified Navier-Stokes equations (NSE) and continuity equation (CE) in polar coordinate. The analysis is based on steady state laminar flow of thin falling liquid film on a horizontal circular tube, for cases in which traction on the film surface is considered negligible. It is a common geometry for part of engineering problems such as evaporator, condenser, absorber, generator of absorption chillers and other similar units in mechanical and chemical engineering. Knowledge of the velocity profiles is usually needed for: 1- solving governing energy and species equations 2- estimating the average and film...

    Abstract
In recent decades, due to economic, political and environmental issues, tend to use of the CHP systems (combined heating and power) have increased. CHP systems not only increase energy efficiency, but also decrease fuel consumption and emission levels of systems. The use of CHP technology in the industry has a long history, but the use of these systems in the commercial and residential sector, is considered, recently. As to the residential buildings, both electricity and thermal energy demands fluctuate seasonally and hourly, so it is necessary to take account of the plant’s annual operational strategies for the variations of load demands. In this paper, a nonlinear programming model is...
