    Abstract
In order to improve its biological properties, graphene oxide can be modified with hydrophilic polymers. Therefore, in this study, the surface of graphene oxide was modified with polyethylene glycol and albumin by covalent methods. In the subsequent step, paclitaxel which is a hydrophobic anticancer drug was loaded onto the surface of the functionalized graphene by π-π interactions. The synthesis of the nanocarrier and its interaction with paclitaxel were evaluated by FT-IR, CD, TEM, UV, AFM, DLS and fluorescence experiments. Release of the loaded drug from albumin-graphene conjugate was investigated at pH 5.4, 6.8 and 7.4

    2013
    Abstract
The incorporation of modified β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) into a poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm)/chitosan (PNCS) nanohydrogel was studied. β-CD was functionalized with acrylic groups, with different numbers of vinyl bonds added per β-CD molecule. The surfactant-free dispersion polymerization (SFDP) semi-batch method was used to synthesize the nanohydrogel. Increasing the number of vinyl groups per β-CDAC (β-CD acrylate) molecule induced the formation of smaller nanogels with diameters ranging from 142 to 68 nm. The cyclodextrin-modified dual-responsive nanogels obtained presented an LCST (lower critical solution temperature) in aqueous medium at around 31 C. The incorporation of β-CDAC into...

    Abstract
ZnO nanoparticles have been prepared successfully by hydrogel decomposition method (HDM). Synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and transition electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. Narrow distribution of sizes with a 20-30 nm diameter and regular distribution of ZnO nanoparticles are attributed to the application of poly(acrylic acid-co-acrylamide) grafted chitosan hydrogel as coating agent. The results show that the polymer thermal decomposition technique is a perfect method for the synthesis of ZnO nano particles

    Abstract
The coordination geometries, electronic features, absolute metal ion affinities, geometrical multiplicity and binding strength for the complexes formed by Mg2+, Ca2+, Zn2+ and Cu+ with cytidine and deoxycytidine have been determined theoretically employing the hybrid B3LYP exchange-correlation functional and using 6-311++G(d,p) orbital basis sets. Our study shows that the most stable coordination modes of cytosine nucleosides with these cations are rather similar. In the isolated state, the most stable form corresponds to a tridentate complex in which the cation interacts with three oxygen atoms: one from the carbonyl oxygen of cytosine moiety and two from the sugar unit (i.e., O5′ and O4′)....

    Abstract
Two series of alkali hydrolyzed starch-g-polyacrylonitrile (H-SPAN) superabsorbents were prepared from granular and gelatinized corn starches. The grafting parameters of SPAN copolymers were determined and the polymers were analyzed by FTIR spectroscopy. A combination of three influencing factors (i.e. thermal pre-treatment of the initial starch, presence or absence of oxygen in the stage of ceric-initiated PAN grafting, and neutralization after alkali treatment) on swelling characteristics of the final hydrogel was evaluated in a practical viewpoint. The superabsorbents were discriminated according to their swelling behavior in water and different aqueous salt solutions. The swelling...

    Abstract
Herein, the facile and tunable technique for the preparation of novel multi-stimuli-responsive nanocomposites via RAFT polymerization for DOX delivery is reported. The influence of the molecular weight of pH- and thermo-sensitive poly (acrylic acid-co-NIPAM) (PNAx), as a macro-RAFT agent, on the nanocomposites size and drug release rate was investigated. The outcome of this study reveals that macro-RAFT agent with lower molecular weight can be attached to the surface of magnetic nanoparticles with higher content of polymeric layer than can macro-RAFT agent with higher molecular weight. Also, it was observed that the particle size, polymer grafting density, DOX loading capacity, and DOX...
