    Radial Flow compressors have broad applications in aero-space, transport, gas and oil industries and etc. This type of compressor is a better choice in meeting constraints on weight and space, especially when continuous high pressure stream in low volumetric rate is of interest.

    Being able to optimal design and fabrication of compressors requires understanding of the flow structure through the compressor components. Volutes are commonly the last main component in radial flow compressors. The stream passes through inlet, impeller and diffuser and finally is collected and discharged to the downstream pipeline by a volute. Volute shape has a direct and non-negligible effect on the compressor performance and its stable operating range. The dual-porosity approach applied for fracture modeling, and the flow transfer formulated based on a generalized black oil model which is based on matrix formulation, leading to a system of equations prone to degeneracy.     In this research an analytical model for performance prediction of centrifugal compressors is developed. The loss mechanisms are investigated in impeller, diffuser and volute separately for wide operating rotational speeds of the compressor.     This research numerically and experimentally investigates a small turbocharger radial flow compressor with a vane-less diffuser and volute. The geometry of the compressor is obtained via component scanning, through which a 3D model is prepared. The flow inside this model is numerically analyzed by using a Navier-Stokes solver with a shear-stress transport turbulence model.     In this study steady state and dynamic simulation of an NFM extractive distillation unit for seperation of aromatics and non-aromatic components has been carried out. Column output composition obtained with experimental binary coefficients is compared with those obtainded by UNIFAC equation. The results indicate that using UNIFAC for all binrary coefficients results in an unacceptable error in concentration of benzene.
