    Abstract
In this study, a reliable 10 W high-power amplifier (HPA) is presented along with its design procedure. Implemented on a 0.25-μm InGaAs/AlGaAs/GaAs pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (pHEMT) process, the designed HPA achieves power added efficiency (PAE) of more than 33% across the 7.8-12.8 GHz band. The proposed two-stage PA provides 15 dB large signal gain with an average small-signal gain of 18 dB. Peak results are achieved at 12.2 GHz with 40.8 dBm output power and 44% PAE. The reliability of the designed HPA is studied in detail along with a thorough discussion of related concerns

A two layer texture modeling based on curvelet transform and spiculated lesion filters for recognizing architectural distortion in mammograms

    , Article Middle East Conference on Biomedical Engineering, MECBME ; 17 - 20 February , 2014 , pp. 21-24 Khoubani, S ; Nadjar, H. S ; Fatemizadeh, E ; Mohammadi, E ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
This paper presents a two layer texture modeling method to recognize architectural distortion in mammograms. We propose a method that models a Gaussian mixture on the Curvelet coefficients and the outputs of Spiculated Lesion Filters. The Curvelet transform and the Spiculated Lesion Filters have been applied to extract textural features of mammograms in literature. However the key difference between this study and the previous ones is that in our approach, a Gaussian mixture models the textural features extracted by the Curvelet transform and the Spiculated Lesion Filters. The results of the current study are shown in the form of accuracy and the area under the receiver operating...

Analysis of parametric oscillations in high power amplifiers

    Abstract
A large-signal analysis of sub-harmonic parametric oscillations in Power Amplifiers (PAs) is presented in this paper. Simplified models for current-voltage and channel charge characteristics of short-channel pseudomorphic High Electron Mobility Transistors (pHEMTs) are adopted to investigate the effects of the device transconductance and gate-source capacitance nonlinearities on the amplifier stability. A 5-W Ku-band PA is designed to demonstrate the application of the presented analysis. MMIC PA is implemented in a 0.25-μm GaAs pHEMT process. According to the measurements, the PA provides 37.5 dBm (5.6 W) of output power, 36% of Power Added Efficiency (PAE), and small-signal gain of 18 dB...

    Abstract
In this study, the fatigue behavior of composite reinforced cracked aluminum 1050 plates is investigated experimentally and numerically. The tests are conducted in four different stress ratios between 0 and 1. At first step, plates with similar cracks and geometries have been prepared. Then the glass/epoxy patches have been attached to the cracked plates using Araldite 2015 adhesive. Fatigue load has been applied to three cases of samples including non-patch, one-side patch and two-side patch, where in all stress ratios the maximum force is considered constant. A three-dimensional finite element analysis is developed in ABAQUS. A good correlation between finite element results and the...
