    Abstract
A novel silica-functionalized dual Brønsted acidic ionic liquid (ionic liquid with two Brønsted acidic species) has been reported as a highly efficient catalyst for thioacetalization of carbonyl compounds. The reaction was efficiently performed in water as an environmentally benign solvent with good to high yields. Thermal gravimetric analysis showed that the catalyst is stable at least up to 350 C. Furthermore, the catalyst can be recycled and reused for six runs of reaction without appreciable loss of activity. The structure of the catalyst is modelized to gain more realistic structural insight about the functionalized ionic liquid

    Abstract
In this study a novel symmetrical metal-free organic dye for applications in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) was synthesized. This dye (D) was designed with A-π-D-π-A framework and synthesized with 9,9-dioctylfluorene as electron donor, phenylene as π-spacer and cyanoacetic acid as electron acceptor. The chemical structure of product was determined using UV-Vis, FT-IR, CNMR, HNMR spectroscopy techniques. The presence of a phenylene π-bridge between the donor and the acceptor units and the di-anchoring moieties in this structure led to enhancement of conjugation lengths and molar extinction coefficient (ε) that is promising for further improvement of the conversion efficiency of DSSCs

    Abstract
In this work, the formability of a hybrid material of Interstitial-Free 240 (IF240) steel and AZ31 magnesium alloy as IF240/AZ31/IF240 tri-layered sheets was investigated. For this purpose, the bonding feasibility of the high-formability IF240 steel and low-formability AZ31 sheets was first assessed. Then, the hot formability behavior of the manufactured laminated composite was evaluated. The rolling of the preheated samples established the layer bonding. The bonding strength was determined using the shear punch test. The texture and its effects on the forming behavior were studied using the x-ray Goniometry method. Nakazima dome tests were employed at ambient and elevated temperatures to...

Application of quasi-chemical models to liquid-liquid equilibrium calculations for ternary systems containing water, propionic acid and organic solvents

    , Article Fluid Phase Equilibria ; Volume 226, Issue 1-2 , 2004 , Pages 251-259 ; 03783812 (ISSN) Hashemi, Sh ; Ghotbi, C ; Taghikhani, V ; Behzadi, B ; Sharif University of Technology
    2004
    Abstract
Two different models based on Guggenheim's renormalized canonical partition function proposed by Wang and Vera, the generalized quasi-chemical model (GEM-QC) and the generalized regular solution model (GEM-RS), have been used in molecular form to correlate the liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) of experimental data for ternary systems containing water, propionic acid (PA) and organic solvents. Both the GEM-QC and the GEM-RS models have nine adjustable parameters for a ternary system, which are obtained from a least square fit of the models to the LLE experimental data. In this work the same assumptions made to develop the simplified GEM-RS model (GEM-RS2) by Wang and Vera, have been applied to...

A different approach to estimate the process parameters in tube hydroforming

    , Article International Journal of Material Forming ; Volume 8, Issue 3 , July , 2015 , pp 355-366 ; ISSN: 19606206 Hashemi, R ; Shirin, M. B ; Einolghozati, M ; Assempour, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
An enhanced unfolding inverse finite element method (IFEM) has been used together with an extended strain-based forming limit diagram (FLD) to develop a fast approach to predict the feasibility of tube hydroforming process of concept part and determine where the failure or defects can occur. In tube hydroforming, the inverse IFEM has been used for estimating the initial length of tube, axial feeding and fluid pressure. The already developed IFEM algorithm used in this study is based on the total deformation theory of plasticity. Although the nature of tube hydroforming is three-dimensional deformation, in this article a modeling technique has been used to perform the computations in...

Optimized design of water-saving system in-slab cooling plant of Mobarakeh steel complex

    Abstract
The aim of this paper is to provide a solution to decrease water consumption in the slab-cooling unit of Mobarakeh Steel Complex in Iran. The plan should give an hourly decline in water consumption during a one-year operation period to calculate the annual reduction in water consumption of the proposed process. Recommended solutions for the conversion scheme of an existing wet cooling tower to a dry or hybrid cooling system require modeling of the slab cooling process. The curves of temperature drop in slabs are extracted in this paper by modeling the transient heat transfer of the slabs in the cooling process. This will reduce the computational volume. Then, the design and optimization of...

    Abstract
Copper indium selenide CuInSe2(CISe) thin films were deposited by chemical spray pyrolysis (CSP) method of CuInS2(CIS) and subsequent selenization process. To study the effects of solution concentration, we prepared different precursors solution of CIS including different amount of indium salts from 0.025 to 0.100 M with In/Cu 1.25 and S/In 4. These results propose that solution concentration is critical for inflecting the morphological, optical, electrical, and electrochemical characteristics of solution-processed CISe films and device performance. The studied morphological properties of deposited samples were homogenous, crack-free with large grains in indium salt concentrations more than...
