    Abstract
    In this paper we introduce a novel population-based binary optimization technique, which works based on consensus of interacting multi-agent systems. The agents, each associated with an opinion vector, are connected through a network. They can influence each other, and thus their opinions can be updated. The agents work collectively with their neighbors to solve an optimization task. Here we consider a specific opinion update rule and various topologies for the connection network. Our experiments on a number of benchmark non-convex cost functions show that ring topology results in the best performance as compared to others.     Abstract
    Accurate prediction of electricity demand is essential for planning, policy making and resource allocation in national level. In this manuscript, we applied a number of artificial intelligence methods to predict macro-scale electricity consumption rates in Iran. To this end, three socio-economic and three environmental factors were considered as inputs to the prediction models. We used data for the period 1967-2013 in order to predict the power demand in the years 2014-2018. Experimental results showed that the path coefficient analysis model with linear coefficients had the best performance among the models considered in this study.     The general goal of the facility layout problem is to arrange a given number of facilities to minimize the total cost associated with the known or projected interactions between them. One of the special classes of the facility layout problem is the Single Row Facility Layout Problem (SRFLP), which consists of finding an optimal linear placement of rectangular facilities with varying dimensions on a straight line.     A novel molecularly imprinted xerogel (MIX) based on organically modified silica (ORMOSIL) was successfully prepared for on-line capillary microextraction (CME) coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The sol-gel-based xerogel was prepared using only one precursor and exhibited extensive selectivity towards triazines along with significant thermal and chemical stability.     Due to special constraints in peer-to-peer (P2P) networks (such as bandwidth limitation) and because of their highly dynamic characteristics, a single node cannot provide a reliable multimedia stream to the receivers. Several multi-sender algorithms are proposed to reliably deliver a media stream to the receiver through the intrinsically unreliable P2P networks.     Abstract
    The raising trend both in violent and property crime are of major concern in Iran. Using a panel data modeling (province wide), the paper provides an econometrics assessment of the relationship between crime against properties and violent crimes as functions of deterrent, social, economic and demographic factors in Iran, in the framework of Becker-Ehrlich crime supply theory. The findings indicate that, although deterrence hypothesis is not confirmed for burglary and assault, it explains the variations of murders and threats.     In this paper, a nonlocal elasticity formulation is presented for analyzing the instability of nano-peapods by modeling the nanotube as a shell. Using the nonlocal elasticity theory, the small scale characteristics of Carbon Nano-Peapods (CNPs) are taken into account. While the classical elastic shell model overestimates the critical pressure for the onset of structural instability of carbon nanotubes, the obtained results show that the nonlocal elastic shell model for nano-peapods can potentially provide better predictions.     The results of three cases of two consecutive reactors are studied in two types of co-current and counter-current flow in second reactor where two consecutive reactors are oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) and Fischer-Tropsch (FT) reactors. FT reactor can be fixed bed or membrane fixed bed reactor with a hydrogen perm-selective membrane. Effect of CH4/O2 ratio, contact time, inlet temperature, and amount of N2 in OCM feed on C2 to C5+ hydrocarbons produced in FT reactor were studied.     The necessity of dynamic equivalents for power system analysis has been well known since the expansion of large interconnected power networks, and has been discussed during the last decades. The present paper proposes a new method for constructing dynamic equivalents of power systems. In this method, at the first step the "study system" is modeled completely via a single machineinfinite bus modeling procedure.     In this work a novel unbreakable sol-gel-based in-tube device for on-line solid phase microextraction (SPME) was developed. The inner surface of a copper tube, intended to be used as a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) loop, was electrodeposited by metallic Cu followed by the self assembled monolayers (SAM) of 3-(mercaptopropyl) trimethoxysilane (3MPTMOS).     The effects of applied magnetic and electric fields on electrospinning were investigated to produce more efficient nanofibers. Considering the previous extensive studies, polyamide nanofibers were prepared by a conventional approach and under auxiliary electric and magnetic fields. The first sorbent was synthesized by electrospinning of a solution of 18% polyamide in formic acid.
