    Abstract
In this study, α -Fe2O3 (hematite) nanoparticles were synthesised by a sonochemical method. The influence of different factors such as chemical composition of the precursors, atmosphere of the reactions and type of the sonicator on the chemical formula, crystallinity, morphology and size of the obtained products were investigated. Powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and IR spectroscopy, were used to characterise the nanostructures. The catalytic tests were performed in the reaction of methyl phenyl sulphide oxidation. The results exhibit the good catalytic performance of the as-prepared α -Fe2O3 nanoparticles

    Abstract
A simple sonochemical method was developed to synthesis uniform sphere-like Co3O4 and Mn3O4 nanocrystals. Epoxidation of styrene and cyclooctene by anhydrous tert-butyl hydroperoxide over the prepared Co3O4 and Mn3O4 nanocatalysts was investigated. The results of conversion activity were compared with bulk Co3O4 and Mn3O4. Under optimized reaction conditions, the nanocatalysts showed a superior catalytic performance as compared to the bulk catalysts. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and BET surface area, were used to characterize and investigate the nanocatalysts

The resulting nanocomposites were efficient catalysts for the selective oxidation of sulfides with different green oxidants in good to excellent yields and also high selectivity. Leaching and recycling tests showed that the nanocatalyst can be reused several times without...

The effect of framework functionality on the catalytic activation of supported Pd nanoparticles in the Mizoroki–Heck coupling reaction

    , Article Comptes Rendus Chimie ; Volume 20, Issue 2 , 2017 , Pages 107-115 ; 16310748 (ISSN) Ashouri, F ; Zare, M ; Bagherzadeh, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Masson SAS  2017
    Abstract
Palladium nanoparticles (Pd-NPs) were supported on functional and nonfunctional Co-coordination polymers (Pd/CoBDCNH2 and Pd/CoBDC). Advanced analytical techniques revealed that Pd-NPs are supported on the external surface of the polymer framework and the functionalized framework possesses effective influence to prevent Pd-NP aggregation. Supported Pd-NPs were effectively applied as heterogeneous recyclable catalysts in the Mizoroki–Heck C–C cross coupling reactions of iodobenzene and either aromatic or aliphatic terminal alkenes. Catalytic results exhibited that highly dispersed Pd-NPs with low loading (1%) on the functional polymer (Pd/CoBDCNH2) are more effective than aggregated Pd-NPs...

Synthesis and characterization of molybdenum (VI) complex immobilized on polymeric Schiff base-coated magnetic nanoparticles as an efficient and retrievable nanocatalyst in olefin epoxidation reactions

    , Article Applied Organometallic Chemistry ; Volume 34, Issue 3 , 2020 Mortazavi Manesh, A ; Bagherzadeh, M ; Sharif University of Technology
John Wiley and Sons Ltd  2020
    Abstract
In this study, a new polymeric functionalized magnetic nanocatalyst containing a molybdenum Schiff base complex was prepared using a few consecutive steps. Poly (methylacrylate)-coated magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized via radical polymerization of methyl acrylate onto modified magnetic nanoparticles followed by the amidation of the methyl ester groups with hydrazine. Polymeric functionalization efficiently provides the advantage that more catalytic units can be grafted on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles. The functionalization process was continued with salicylaldehyde which introduced Schiff base groups on to the surface of the polymeric support. In the final step, the desired...

Reactivity studies of biomimetic catalytic epoxidation of alkenes with tetrabutylammonium periodate in the presence of various manganese porphyrins and nitrogen donors: Significant axial ligand π-bonding effects

    , Article New Journal of Chemistry ; Volume 28, Issue 6 , 2004 , Pages 740-747 ; 11440546 (ISSN) Mohajer, D ; Karimipour, G ; Bagherzadeh, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Royal Society of Chemistry  2004
    Abstract
Highly selective epoxidation (> 95%) of unfunctionalized alkenes was performed by tetrabutylammonium periodate in the presence of six different phenyl substituted manganese(III) meso-tetraphenylporphyrins [Mn(Por)] and imidazole in CH2Cl2. Electron-withdrawing and bulky substituents on the phenyl groups lowered the catalytic activities of the corresponding Mn(Por). Less bulky alkenes with electron -rich double bonds showed greater reactivity in the epoxidation. Co-catalytic activities of four different classes of axial nitrogen donors are compared in the presence of various Mn(Por). In general no direct correlation was found between co-catalytic activities and the pKa values of the nitrogen...

    Abstract
The construction, potentiometric response properties, and applications of a novel ion-selective electrode with high selectivity toward salicylate are described. Chromium(III) tetraphenylporphyrin chloride was used as ion carrier into plasticized PVC membrane. This ionophore is capable of serving as both a positively charged and neutral carrier, depending on the pH of the sample solution. The influence of several variables was investigated to optimize the potentiometric response and selectivity of the electrode. The resulting electrode demonstrates a near-Nernstian response over a wide range of salicylate concentration (10-6-10-1 M). This electrode has a fast response time and micromolar...

Origin of the correlation of the rate constant of substrate hydroxylation by nonheme iron(IV)-oxo complexes with the bond-dissociation energy of the C-H bond of the substrate

    , Article Chemistry - A European Journal ; Volume 15, Issue 27 , 2009 , Pages 6651-6662 ; 09476539 (ISSN) Latifi, R ; Bagherzadeh, M ; De Visser, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Wiley-VCH Verlag  2009
    Abstract
Mononuclear nonheme iron containing systems are versatile and vital oxidants of substrate hydroxylation reactions in many biosystems, whereby the rate constant of hydroxylation correlates with the strength of the C-H bond that is broken in the process. The thermodynamic reason behind these correlations, however, has never been established. In this work results of a series of density functional theory calculations of substrate hydroxylation by a mononuclear nonheme iron(IV)-oxo oxidant with a 2 His/ 1Asp structural motif analogous to aketoglutarate dependent dioxygenases are presented. The calculations show that these oxidants are very efficient and able to hydroxylate strong C-H bonds,...

    Abstract
Humanity's challenges are becoming increasingly difficult, and as these challenges become more advanced, the need for effective and intelligent action becomes more apparent. Meanwhile, the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, which has plagued the world, could be considered as an opportunity to take a step toward the need for atomic engineering, compared to molecular engineering, as well as to accelerate this type of research. This approach, which can be expressed in terms of picotechnology, makes it possible to identify living cell types or in general, chemical and biological surfaces using their atomic arrays, and applied for early diagnosis even treatment of the disease. © 2020...
